I felt adventurous and bought a pound and a half of fava beans at the grocery store this past week. Silly me, it yielded 15 beans. Nonetheless, I peeled them from the pod that looked like it was filled with fiberglass insulation, blanched all 15 beans, and peeled them from their waxy covering. I would suggest stopping here and spreading them on crisp toast with salt but I proceded to cook them with eggs and croutons, as described above.
